Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

Mission Statement

APCS is a scientific organization committed to diversity and elimination of bias. As such, APCS is dedicated to the inclusion of science and scientists regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, disability status, neurodiversity, country of origin, geographic location, and disciplinary expertise.

To ensure our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices, APCS pledges…

  • to facilitate underrepresented students attending APCAM by awarding diversity travel grants and membership awards.
  • to host mentorship opportunities for graduate students and early career researchers at the APCAM meeting.
  • to create a membership demographics survey to keep track of our progress regarding diversity representation.
  • to extend APCS affiliated laboratories to include various scientists around the globe focusing on the study of auditory perception and cognition.
  • to continue evaluating and increasing DEI initiatives by having a DEI committee that seeks member input.
